Nichols was a reporter for NBA shows on TNT, including the playoffs, regular season and All-Star broadcasts. Nichols also worked for TBS broadcasting golf and baseball broadcasts, and Final Four broadcasts on CBS. This is the first time in the award's 42-year-old tradition that a woman has been nominated amongst the more than 200 candidates.
